In a medium bowl mix:
1 cup Borax
1 cup soap flakes
1 cup washing soda
1/2 teaspoon lemon essential oil.
Mix well and add 2-4 Tablespoons to each wash depending on the size of the load. Remember to label your laundry jar so no one thinks it's icing sugar because that...would be very very bad.
Borax you can find at you supermarket or Walmart typically. The Eco Pioneer Soap Flakes you can find at your local health food store or through well.ca. Essential Oils can be found at your health food store or I have a selection of essential oils that you can purchase through my store link.
To make the Washing Soda you need to change the chemical structure of baking soda. Just adding baking soda to this detergent is not going to work. Pour 1 cup of Baking Soda onto a cookie sheet and bake at 390F for 60 minutes. Allow to cool and add to the other ingredients. Do not allow it to sit out without it being covered as it will revert back to Baking Soda. I have no idea why or how it works but that's what I've researched and read! :)
A very simple recipe that is easy on the environment...easy on your pocketbook...and works well on your clothes.
