Success is the expansion of happiness. At the age of 40, this is as close to the answer that I FEEL. Success means so many things to so many people and it has meant many things to me over the years. When you sit down and really THINK about success, the media tells us that rich people and famous people are successful. When you get the big house and the fancier car and the toys you're successful. You couldn't pay me enough to have all their dramatics and lack of privacy. Their type of money wouldn't make me happy in the least!
I know that we are all told that money doesn't create happiness but do we REALLY believe it to be so? Do we want the fancy car or just a car that doesn't require repairs all the time? Do we want caviar and high priced wine or do we want a humble but hearty meal with friends and family?
What makes you happy? Happiness to me is being with my kids and my hubby, my photography, growing healthy food and medicines, teaching. Do I make gobs of money doing what I love? Not a chance. Everyday for the past 6 years, I've woken up and thought, how can I make money doing what I love to do, and I stress about it. I've struggled.
Well, that has ended. I'm no longer stressing about the money part. Doing what you love to do should not require a specific bank account balance. The making money part of the equation has been sucking all the joy out of what I love I hear all the naysayers and the Dragon's Den persona's out there yelling at me saying if I don't make money then I'm not a successful person, then it's just a hobby. That has been the problem all along. I listened to other peoples definitions based on financial success.
I've always been successful, to me. Success, is when we feel the most happy. Sometimes we just need to want less. To have gratitude for what we already have. Do what you love, be grateful and that alone will inspire happiness from within.
2016 is going to be a fabulous year! I can feel it.
