So for the past 5 years I've had on my bucket list to finish the quilt my twin sister had started.
When she died she had boxes and boxes of fabric. She was a bit of a fabric collector and could sew up a storm. I didn't get the sewing gene. ummmm that's when the tomboy in me comes out. I really don't care for sewing. However, she had started this crazy quilt and I vowed that I would finish it. Vanessa had cut out leftover pieces of fabric into a 4 square pattern. My mom straightened up all the edges and sewed them into strips.....that was 4 years ago...thanks mom, you rock! Me? not so much. Life has a habit of getting busy for me and big projects don't get done when I'd like them too. Perhaps it's just that I procrastinated because it revolved around sewing.
Heading to the local thrift shop I found a fuzzy blanket for a single bed. I was initially going to use it as the filler but as I thought about it, I wanted that fuzziness on my skin! So I took the now pieced together front of the quilt, flipped it and cut the fuzzy blanket to fit. I sewed it inside out, leaving a small space that I could turn it inside right! I finished the stitching by hand. Voila! Finally after so many years, the blanket is now finished. It's a great size for cuddling up to on the couch.
